Janis Joplin Big Brother & the Holding Company, “Cheap Thrills”. One of the most successful albums of 1968. In modern terms they went viral after playing the Monterey Pop Festival. 1968... think of the sheer word of mouth force required to be one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Columbia and a boatload of lawyers took seven months to pry them away from Mainstream Records who produced the band a “less than” self titled album. Finally sprung free... Columbia tried like a stalker to get them to record live on tour (but can you blame them though?).... but the band didn’t feel like they could capture material in line with the hype they had been getting. Then with the help of producer John Simon this album showed up sporting a Robert Crumb gatefold cover... and voila one of the greatest albums of all time. #audiophile#hifi #audio #music #vinyl#vinylcollection #records #stereo#recordcollection #vinyljunkie#nowspinning #turntable #sound#vinylcollector #vinylcommunity#highendaudio #hifiaudio#headphones #recordcollector #rpm#instahifi #audioporn #vinyladdict#nowplaying #audiophiles #record#instavinyl #vinylrecords #vinylporn
