Back in the mid 70’s apparently this album was the gateway drug for a whole new subset of listeners to get into #jazz. Even as an #audiophile I only find myself zoning out to piano and only piano so often (it does happen though). In fairness, this picture really should be of a #vinylrecord sleeve as this was recorded in 1975 and see above (dynamic range, 1975, pre-loudness wars). Sadly I don’t have this on vinyl. This performance was recorded at the Köln Opera House and it’s entirely improvised, word is Keith Jarrett didn’t even consider what he might play... it all just appears. The upside of having this on flac... I see the dynamic range and it’s a wide wide dynamic range. If your gear can handle it... play it loud! Remember the piano is a percussion instrument... you can hear it (the physical striking of the piano strings) and each note’s individuality, play it loud enough you can hear his grunting, his humming, Keith is shredding... on the piano. There is beautiful use of space and time... there is balance. Yeah, this is gonna be that time you find yourself zoning out to piano and nothing but piano. Keith Jarrett, “The Köln Concert”. Enjoy! #audiophile #hifi #stereo#japaneseissue #live#freeimprovisation #jazz #piano
