Tool, “Lateralus”. To many this is Tool’s opus... a prof rock record that brings to mind the Meddle era of Pink Floyd and certainly musings reminiscent of King Crimson. They are also one of my favorite rock bands and have been since the very beginning. The dynamics of this album are unreal. The unusual time signatures, the haunting vocals... Danny’s drums! There is even a song based off of the Fibonacci sequence... now that’s math rock! Unfortunately in my case... shh... don’t tell anyone but the digital is better.... but I attribute that to the fact that a giant picture disk isn’t the best path to high fidelity.
