Kodo, “Mondo Head”

Kodo, “Mondo Head”. Produced... archived if you will by none other than one of the most famous Grateful Dead percussionists, Mickey Hart, who literally travels/studies World percussion. While I have owned this album for some time, I was entirely reminded of it while at a Wilson Audio event. What I mean by reminded, is that I forgot I owned it entirely. Dave Wilson and Mickey Hart we’re neighbors at one point, so considering the material and how well it’s recorded, should come as no surprise that a track may find its way as an excellent demo track. It’s pretty rare that I’m ever gonna zero in on a specific track, but... and there’s always a but, it’s just a ridiculously good demo track. Track 7 “Daraijin” should light up your back wall with a wide soundstage... as if a row of skilled Japanese drummers are in the room with you. Here’s the challenge, if you don’t subtly hear drummers very early in the track, the volume needs to go up, and probably way up as it’s pretty dynamic. Warning if you don’t think your gear can handle it loud dynamic yet precise and never muddy sounding without any hint of distortion... then maybe you should be careful. With a decent setup this should very dramatic and very rewarding. It’s a slow build up but as it’s power rises so do the expectations on your system. The drum hits should be fast and dramatic with rapid decay. There should be no lingering bass smear with the big hits. Enjoy! #audiophile #hifi #music #audio #vinyl#highendaudio #audiophiles #sound#nowplaying #highfidelity #hifiaudio#stereo #audioporn #instahifi#musiclover #hifidelity #soundsystem#records #vinyljunkie #cd #hiend#highend #speakers #drums#japanesedrums #kodo #mickeyhart
