Let’s Get Weird – HIFI Tweaks

Let’s get weird. I say this because some of you that actually read these are going to think the following is up there with wearing a tin foil hat to shield oneself from gamma rays from planet Cookoo, and hardcore audiophiles are gonna be all like, you could do it better. For those not in the know, many people really into audio care immensely about not just their equipment, but also their power, and the cables and hardware that delivers electricity. I get it, this might sound bananas... but I have been in too many a room, when a single power cable is swapped... and suddenly everything sounds entirely different. Like so different you also sometimes hear a room full of grown men gasp so loudly in shock at what their skeptical minds just heard. I am a skeptic... but the ears witness what they witness. Placebo effect? Possibly, but we are talking about listening, which is part of perception, and listening is all about your perception. In fairness all my cables are at the least, high quality materials, but not high end by audiophile standards. And, yeah for the most part I could hear those upgrades. So all that was left was the power receptacles, but I didn’t get the expensive audiophile ones, I didn’t even get the recommended slightly higher priced hospital grade ones of a different brand. But I did pay close attention to the quality of metals used in the electrical path. To be honest, I did it because it looks like I installed the expensive ones, I expected not to hear any improvement. But I knew it couldn’t hurt. Effectively there was previously an inch of electrical travel with cheap metal that I swapped out now for high quality metal, stiffness, and grip. I keep swapping equipment playing my test tracks, and placebo or not... everything seems heightened, better in certain categories, it’s like the equipment is very happy... and I am weirded out.. but happy. The mono blocks have a quality before not witnessed. Other amps more of a quality than before. Enjoy!
