Jacob Collier, “Djesse (Vol. 1)”

I don’t even know how to begin. Either you know of him (Technically an internationally known Grammy {2} winning artist) or this may totally blindside you. Singer, arranger, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, friend of Quincy Jones... now age 24, hit the scene at 17. It’s pretty rare these days to hear stories of meticulous artists focusing on every aspect of music creation... right down to individually mic’ing every performer in an Orchestra and mixing and arranging all that... for a track (himself!). It’s almost easier for me to say what genre this album doesn’t fit into in a given moment. So I am just not going to categorize this album. (Ok, maybe a few hashtags). I will say, it’s #audiophile, it’s crystal, it’s meticulous, and it’s also highly unusual. Jacob Collier, “Djesse (Vol. 1). If you’re the kind of open minded audiophile that finds themselves “critically listening” all the time... You’re going to have lots to digest and analyze. Sure you will have to get past changing rhythm signatures and a vocalist that hides within harmonies. #Jazz #classical #funk#randb #electronica #hifi #stereo#acapella #folk #gospel #jacobcollier
